I am passionate about working with queer people of color who are struggling to believe that they are enough. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling isolated and find it challenging to connect with others. They’re hoping to understand why they are feeling so uncomfortable and walled off from everything around them. Many folks come to therapy to improve their self-esteem and are looking for a safe, nonjudgmental space to do that work.
I believe change comes from self-awareness and that there are many ways to build that skill. While I use several modalities in my work with clients, I love unpacking the narratives they have about themselves and the world. I often incorporate creative arts practices, such as visual arts, dance/movement, and creative writing to facilitate the self-exploration process.
I work in mental health because I have seen the transformative impact that therapy can have on individuals and their communities through my previous work at social services nonprofits. I am excited to work with Reconnect because it’s important to me that people from underserved and underrepresented communities receive culturally competent mental health services.
