My Story

You know that feeling of having so many things to do for some reason nothing gets done. Have you had trouble getting out of bed or enjoying doing things that you used to do? Or maybe you have been feeling overwhelmed, not good enough, or just not feeling yourself lately? Most of us get these types of thoughts and feelings that pop up into our heads quite often. But sometimes it can get hard to get rid of these thoughts, we may spiral out and our behaviors can be detrimental to the way we handle our problems or relationships. When life takes a turn, you could use someone like me to help you handle the curves of life in talk therapy.

I get you! My clients have said that I am very easy to talk to and they are comfortable sharing their vulnerabilities with me rather than a family member or friend who could potentially judge them. My approach is sensitive to culture in helping historically underrepresented populations with anxiety and depression easily identify their problem and find solutions. I provide an environment that will allow you to create change in your life, by working through your problems, allowing you to feel better by helping you to understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behavior. I use an eclectic therapeutic approach that is catered to each unique individual designed to help you build the skills that you will need to create the change in your life. You will be able to better tap into your full potential and find direction so that you can accomplish your goals to create a sense of meaning and purpose in your life.

Are you are sharing your life with someone or thinking about marriage and have some things you would like to get off your chest before you take that leap? Have you felt trapped or unheard in your current relationship and think that things would be better if you could just communicate? To those of you looking to improve your relationships and understand your partner, fiancé or spouse, I provide a safe and fair environment for you both to address the complexities of your relationship while guiding you through a deeper understanding of what makes intimate relationships succeed via couples counseling. Together we will work on what to do and how to do it while acknowledging your differences and similarities. I utilize a combination of Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Technique to help couples decide if they should stay together, how to stay together, stop hurting each other, bring back the spark, improve intimacy, learn "good" ways to fight and understand themselves and their partner better.

There was a point in my life when I was in therapy and I picked up some good tips. However, I was unable to connect deeply with anyone that was able to understand my life experience in relation to my culture being that I am a first generation American with Caribbean, Asian and Latina roots. I am here to build the therapeutic connection you need by utilizing my education, research, life experience, clinical experience, and authentic self to support you. Show your mind some love and book your mental health session with me today!
